A delegation from DZMM, the highly-rated radio arm of Philippine media network ABS-CBN, will arrive in Sydney later this month for the Australian leg of their ‘Global Pinoy Singing Idol’ search.
DZMM teamed up with Sydney-based events and entertainment group Flagcom to run the local search.
Flagcom invited interested individuals to submit their video auditions and last week selected 10 individuals (plus one ‘wildcard’) who will battle it out at the Australian Finals on June 28 (Sunday) at Burwood RSL Club from 2pm-5pm.
In alphabetical order, they are:
Joanna Camille Banal
Margaret Joyce Constantino
Jasmine Montemayor Henry
Chantelle Ann Santos
David Michael White
Two winners will be selected during the Australian Finals to receive US$1,000, trophy, ABSCBN giveaways and a round trip airline tickets each to Manila, courtesy of Travel Lounge.
They will then travel to Manila in September to compete in the Global Pinoy Singing Idol Grand Finals, with food, accommodation, transport and TV appearances to be provided by ABS-CBN.
“The finalists selected for this competition are all extremely talented and we can’t wait to see who will be representing Australia at the Grand Finals in September,” said Albert Prias, co-founder of Flagcom.
“It’s a great opportunity for our local artists to join a singing competition backed by none other than ABS-CBN. Who knows? It might be the start of their new singing career in the Philippines,” Prias added.
Special guests include Roanne Monte (Miss Saigon, London) and Philippine-based celebrities Erik Santos (singer) and Matteo Guiddicelli (actor).
The hosts are Ahwel Paz, well-known anchor for DZMM and TV/stage director in the Philippines and Michelle Baltazar, magazine publisher and Sydney-based radio host.
Tickets to the Australian Finals cost $35 and can be purchased online on http://tiket.com.au. Find out more on Facebook or call Albert Prias on 0402 533 587.
